Tap to Pay turns the phone already in your pocket into a card reader. Walk-up guests pay by tapping a contactless card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly on your iPhone or Android device — there is no separate terminal to rent, charge, or carry. Every door sale flows into the same dashboard as your online orders, so your numbers stay one source of truth.

What you need

To take payments at the door:

  • An iPhone (XS or newer, iOS 16.4+) or a supported NFC-enabled Android device
  • The BrightStar scanner / box-office app, installed and signed in
  • A connected Stripe account — the same one that receives your online payouts
  • On iPhone, a one-time Tap to Pay activation prompt from Apple

Selling a ticket at the door

The flow takes seconds:

  1. 1Open the event in the app and choose “Sell at the door”
  2. 2Pick the ticket type(s) and quantity — live inventory updates instantly
  3. 3Have the guest tap their card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay on the device
  4. 4The ticket is issued, a QR code is generated, and a receipt can be emailed or texted on the spot

Works offline

Patchy signal at the venue is fine. Sales and check-ins are captured on-device and sync automatically the moment you reconnect, so the line never stops — and the same ticket can never be sold or scanned twice.

Door sales use the same fee schedule and the same instant Stripe settlement as your online sales — there is no separate in-person rate to reconcile. Run one $0 test ticket the day before a big event to confirm the device is activated.
